Back to School on Relationships: Language Arts


  1. Describe the characteristics of someone you know to be a great listener. What is one of their traits that you could apply personally. How would that help you to become a better listener?
  2. Read Proverbs 18:13 and Proverbs 29:20. 
    1. What warnings are we given about speaking too quickly? 
    2. Under what conditions are you most prone to speak too fast?
  3. Ecclesiastes 3:7b declares there is "a time to be silent, and a time to speak." How do you know what time it is?
  4. Read Proverbs 27:5. 
    1. How do you normally respond to "open rebuke?" 
    2. How might your reaction be different if you thought of it as better than "hidden love?"
    3. Contrast the "hidden love" from 27:5 to the "wounds of a friend" in 27:6. Why are the kisses of an enemy viewed as deceitful?
  5. Where do you need to improve your overall communication skills? What is one step you can take this week to improve your GPA in Language Arts?
